Erlin Geffrard Echoes, 2024
Mural – spray paint, collage, HD print on parachute cloth, and found materials on two 40-foot shipping containers
Echoes is a large-scale mural that pays tribute to the underground art movements that shaped the Bay Area, including the Bay Area Figurative Movement, Funk Art, Abstract Expressionism, and the Mission School. Spanning two shipping containers, this work merges spray-painted gestures, layered textures, and large-scale printed elements to capture the rebellious and improvisational energy that has defined the region’s artistic identity.
The corrugated metal surfaces—symbols of the Bay’s industrial roots and vibrant street culture—become a dynamic canvas where neon bursts, expressive strokes, and collaged fragments reflect the boundary-pushing spirit of artists who defied convention. By bridging historical influences with contemporary storytelling, Echoes ensures that the creative voices of the Bay’s artistic vanguard continue to resonate into the future.
