Tessellating Textures | Block Printing
Block printing, historically used to decorate textiles for clothing, is a process steeped in tradition and generational craft knowledge. Transform your canvas through satisfyingly repetitive prints.
The Museum of Craft and Design invites you into the fantastic world of fibers with a hands-on art activation inspired by our current exhibition, RugLife. Guest curated by Ginger Gregg Duggan and Judith Hoos Fox of c2-curatorsquared, RugLife features the work of 14 contemporary artists from around the world who use the rug as a medium to address cultural issues such as religion, technology, social justice, housing, and the environment. This exhibition delves into the transformation of the rug as a working object turned work-of-art as it is manipulated, reinterpreted, and made new. Creating across a variety of media including yarn, cardboard, repurposed carpets, and hair combs, each of the rugs in RugLife weaves a thought-provoking discourse about the issues that concern us on a global and personal scale.
Creativity unlocks conversation. Grow your own textile skillset as your explore the threads that connect us. Plus pick up a free admission ticket to check out RugLife for yourself!
